• SBI associate banks and Bharatiya Mahila Bank merger will cost $250 million (Rs 1,660 crore)

• A Non-Executive Independent Director Sudhakar Rao of Diageo-controlled united spirits (USL) has resigned from the post.

• Assam’s Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal said that the sealing of the borders with Bangladesh will be completed in two year time to put an end to infiltration. 

• Election Commission of India has derecognised DMDK (scoring just 2.4 percent in Assembly elections) founded by actor – turned politician Vijaykant. 

• World Bank has created pandemic insurance plan which accelerate global and national responses to disease outbreaks that threaten large populations and fragile economics. 
•  World Bank President Jim Yong Kim.

• Mary Kom’s, a five-time world champion, hopes of a second successive Olympic appearance ended on Saturday. Mary Kom (51 kg)  lost 0-2 to Germany’s Azize Nimani in AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships.

• Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has made plans to generate 20 MW solar energy from the roof tops of it stations and office building by the end of 2017.

• Delhi government has decided to penalise Discoms for unscheduled power cut.

• The  11-member committee led by Lt Gen DB Shekatkar has been given 3 months to chalk out an action plan for giving its recommendation on measures to enhance the combat capabilities of armed forces and “re-balance” the overall defence expenditure. 

• Pinarayi Vijayan would be sworn-in as Kerala’s 22^nd Chief Minister on May 25.

• The women and child development ministry has signed a memorandum of cooperation (MOC) with the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation. 

• Israel’s defence Minister Moshe-Yaalon announced his resignation.
