ONE LINERS CURRENT AFFAIRS 7th JULY 2016

Keeping yourself abreast with the latest happenings is not only important for enhancing our awareness but it also plays a pivotal role in any Competitive Exams, be it IAS, KAS, Bank PO, SSC and any other. It is a scoring subject and one can easily get above 90% in this which can be a game changer. But, to do so it requires incessant serious efforts. Reading regularly is impertinent, but it is such a subject which is time consuming and there are other important subjects as well to deal with.

  • Union Minister of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Uma Bharti has inaugurated 231 projects at various locations across seven states Uttarakhand, UP, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Haryana and Delhi.
  • A committee with Dr Shankar Acharya its head, has been constituted by the Finance Ministry of Government of India, to examine the feasibility and desirability of having a new financial year.
  • China has inducted "Y-20" its largest indigenously built transport aircraft which is a breakthrough in military aviation technology for the PLA that allows the World's largest force to transport cargo and troops over long distances in diverse weather conditions. 
  • Woodpecker Environment and Wildlife Film Festival has begun at historic Gaiety Theatre in Shimla. The festival is organised by WWF India in collaboration with CMSR foundation, Delhi with the support of the Himachal Pradesh's Department of language, Art and culture and department of Forest. 
  • Moodstocks, a paris-based startup that develops image recognition technology for smartphones whose APIs for developers have been described as 'Shazam for images', has been acquired by search giant Google.     
  • SBI cards and payment services, has launched a premium credit card 'Elite'. Elite is a bundle of several privileges and benefits for high net worth individuals (HNIs).
  • Gary Fritz has been appointed as Chief Growth Officer and President of the Asia-Pacific region, by the Travel Planning and booking site Trip Advisor.     
  • Deepak Singhal has been appointed the new Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh.
  • Tejinder Kaltra, Former Nokia Executive, has been appointed as the Chief Operating Officer of Telecom Tower Company Indus Towers.   
  • India was placed at 91st position in the recently released 2016 Networked Readiness Index (NRI) by the World Economic Forum (WEF).
  • To develop as tourist destinations, Kerala Tourism has identified 17 new locations under the Kerala Destination Scheme, in addition to the 52 already being developed.
  • The Tripura government has made it mandatory for candidates appearing in the Teacher's Eligibility Test (TET) to secure 50% marks.   
  • The Goa Government will distribute 15 lakh free LED bulbs to 4.89 lakhs consumers under the centre's 'Ujala Scheme'.
  • The Muncipal Corporation of Gurgaon and photographer Aditya Arya are set to launch the World's largest Camera Museum in Gurgaon on August 19, World photography Day.
  • Three MOU have been signed between India and Mozambique.
Three MOU are:
  1. Reduction of drug trafficking and psychotropic  substances and related materials.
  2. Cooperation in the field of youth affairs and sports
  3. Long term agreement for purchase of pulses.   
  • China first, and India is at fourth position as per the world's largest mobile app economy in a report by analytics firm App Annie.
  • Ratan Tata has topped the list of active angel investors in 2016 as per VCCEdge.
  • Roger Federer, after beating Marin Cilic in Wimbledon quarter-final, surpassed Martina Navratilova's record for the most number of wins in Grand Slam Singles Matches. This was Federer's 307th win in Grand Slam singles and his 84th victory at Wimbledon. 
  • Gerardo Martino has resigned from the Coach of Argentina National Football Team.
